TULSA – Families of loved ones inside the Rolling Oaks Memorial Gardens Cemetery are searching for help in restoring the quality of resting places after debris from recent storms is still lingering.
Two weeks later and debris from strong mid-summer storms is still littered around the headstones.
“You can see crews cleaning up these final resting places now. They’ve already hauled away several pounds of brush, but families who've come to visit their loved ones this week were shocked to see so much damage still on the ground,” said one family mem
Some family members say they see little to no change at all in the pickup. That was Christa Copley's first reaction when she came to visit her brother on the anniversary of his death.
“They have done nothing, nothing at all,” said Copley.
Then on Tuesday, crews dropped by to pick up the remnants of trees and limbs. While the property managers would not publicly speak, they told 2 Works for You that crews were backlogged and July 26 was the earliest date they could manage to clean the debris.
The goal, according to the property manager, is to have the grounds looking beautiful by Wednesday, which is something Copley believes is long overdue for the dearly departed.
As far as the broken headstones go, Rolling Oaks management told 2 Works for You that they plan on working with families to get them fixed. They say any damage done by a force of nature is repaired at no cost to loved ones.
