CLAREMORE, Okla. - A couple has been arrested after a blood test revealed that their one-year-old child had ingested marijuana.

Claremore Police arrived at the home near Highway 20 and 4130 Road around 6 p.m. Thursday, according to the Probable Cause Affidavit. A family member told officers that they had come to the home to pick up the boy, and he appeared to be under the influence of something.

The relative told police that the mother, 21-year-old Kayla Dunnick, said the baby had fell into some marijuana, according to the affidavit.

Investigators say the child's eyelids were heavy.

The baby's aunt took him to the hospital where staff conducted blood tests which reveal that he had ingested marijuana, according to the report.

Police say Dunnick arrived at the hospital, but she told them she did not know how he had come into contact with the drug. Dunnick was arrested after officers spotted marijuana in the center console of her vehicle.

Meanwhile, the boy's father, 22-year-old Isaac Vanover, told investigators that he had fallen asleep for several hours while watching the baby, and he awoke to see the child chewing on a marijuana "roach," police reported.

Officers said Vanover told them he took the marijuana away from the child, but he did not seek medical help for the baby.

The child is now in emergency protective custody.
