TULSA, Okla. — For any film lover, visiting the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles is the ultimate dream. Oklahoma has its own walk of fame in front of the Circle Cinema on Lewis Ave., near downtown Tulsa.

For the last 14 years, Circle Cinema has been cultivating their own Walk of Fame by honoring artists for their contributions in film with their own medallion that is cemented into the sidewalk in front of their building. A few of the names that appear on the medallions are Brad Pitt, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Ron Howard.

World-renowned producer, Gray Fredrickson, was presented with his own medallion Thursday at the Circle Cinema Film Festival. He said he was surprised to discover his name was to be honored on Oklahoma’s Walk of Fame.

Frederickson, who grew up in Oklahoma City, has produced more than 50 films. His impressive line of work includes the Godfather films, The Outsiders and Apocalypse Now. He won an Academy Award for The Godfather and was nominated for Apocalypse Now.

Many showed up to the ceremony, including Danny Boy O’Conner, the hip-hop artist from the group House of Pain.

“Gray Frederickson is an Oklahoma legend! It was a pleasure and honor to get to finally meet him last night in Tulsa. I’m glad I got be present as he received his award at the Circle Cinema. What a thrill it was to hear his stories as the producer of my all-time favorite films, The Outsiders,” said Danny Boy O’Connor.

O’Connor is now the executive director of the house featured in the film. He has plans to open the filming location as a museum for the public. The official grand opening date is set for August 10.

During the ceremony, Frederickson joked about wanting to take the medallion home to place on his desk.

The festivities continued with a screening of The Outsiders.

Circle Cinema plans to award more medallions to other individuals for their work in the film industry.
