TULSA — Chinese new year is finally here and Tulsa's Chinese American Association got a jump-start on the festivities.

While they were at it, they combined their welcome of the year of the pig with a celebration of the spring festival gala.

The double-duo celebration at the University of Tulsa included lion dancing, dino dancing, kung-fu and tai-chi demonstrations, and Chinese yo-yo acts.

"We want to make our own contribution to the diversity of the Tulsa community," TU Chinese Student Association's Aaron Chen said.

For more than 40 years, Tulsa's Tulsa's-American Association has been serving the city's Chinese community by providing information and assistance to newcomers.
