Child safety helmets, portable generators top the recall roundup

TULSA, Okla. — Mislabeled children's safety helmets and generators that can give the wrong kind of jolt top this week's recall roundup.

Smartpool is recalling children's multi-purpose helmets. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled helmets were incorrectly advertised and marketed for children aged two or older.

These helmets do not comply with minimum safety requirements for children younger than five and pose a risk of head injury to those children.

If you have one of these helmets, immediately stop using it for children between two and four years old and contact Smartpool for a full refund at 609-212-0221 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, via email at jcieri@smartpool.com or online.

Urban Outfitters is recalling Margo taper candle holders. If you have these, stop using them. CPSC said the candle holders can catch fire if they come in contact with a flame.

Return them to any Urban Outfitters store for a full refund or, contact Urban Outfitters for a prepaid return label to return them by mail. Online purchasers will be contacted by mail about returns.

Northern tool and equipment is recalling Powerhorse portable generators. CPSC said the generators have a wiring error that could result electrical shock to users.

If you have one, stop using it and contact Northern Tool and Equipment for a free repair by an authorized dealer.

And finally, Potter Electric is recalling addressable pull stations. CPSC said some units have a pull handle that can fail to activate the fire alarm system when manually pulled, posing a risk of failing to alert people to a fire.
