CHICKASHA, Okla. — The City of Chickasha is ringing in the holidays with a replica of a notable prop from the classic film “A Christmas Story."
The 40 foot inflatable leg lamp stands on a box marked “Fragile” at the end of Chickasha Avenue.
Aside from being known for the city's annual holiday celebrations, officials said they hope the display is another reason for people to visit Chickasha.
“The stakeholders of Chickasha are excited about its future and our downtown revitalization has just begun," Jim Cowan, economic development director for Chickasha. "We are looking forward to the momentum we have downtown spreading all throughout out town and we believe this 40 foot Leg Lamp will help people to want to come see what’s going on.”
The Chickasha Festival of Light opened up last weekend and runs through Dec. 31. It ranked as a Top Ten Holiday Light Display by USA Today and Forbes magazine.
