Chief-elect Chuck Hoskin, Jr., is rolling out an executive order plan to increase minimum wage in the Cherokee Nation.
Right now it sets at $9.50 and hour - and the plan is to bump that up to $11.
Tribe officials say this will affect 415 government employees making less than that.
The order is expected to take effect October 1.
Chief-elect Hoskin says this is all possible "due to the strong financial stewardship of principal chief bill john baker's administration over the past eight years."
