CATOOSA, Okla. -- Catoosa police officials say a former employee of Flos Burger Diner vandalized the front door of the restaurant.

When Terry Kalister travels from Ardmore, Oklahoma to Arkansas he always stops at Flos Burger Diner in Catoosa.

"My son was working up here and he brought me over here said he found a place to eat the best hamburgers so every time I’m in Tulsa or I come through here, I make it a point to drive over here to Flos and get a bomb burger," said Kalister.

When he tried to order his usual bomb burger Thursday morning, they were closed.

"They said I’m sorry we’re not open and I said, oh I’m so disappointed because I came all the way from Ardmore, Oklahoma and the nice guys behind the counter said we’re going to cook you a bomb burger then," said Kalister.

Flos pushed back opening a few hours because their glass door was smashed to pieces.

"We had just glass everywhere, we’re heartbroken over it," said Angelica Dudley, Manager of Flos Burger Diner.

They replaced the door before they opened at noon but they still need to figure out how to pay about $1,500 in damages.

"We’re a small business, family owned, it’s devastating," said Dudley.

Police say Rodney Howard, a disgruntled former employee, threw a rock at the door and smashed it.

The owner of Flos, Brandy Atkins, says a member of W.D. Construction was having breakfast near the diner and heard about the vandalism. She says they called Tulsa Glass who came out and fixed the door.

They put out donation jars to help with the repairs, and Atkins says they have 30 days to pay Tulsa Glass. Atkins says the employees at Flos Burger Diner in Catoosa volunteered to give their tips to the door repairs.

"It’s a blessing in among itself to just know that the community is coming together to help us like they are right now," said Dudley.

Howard is charged with malicious injury or destruction of property.
