A family escaped a house fire after being alerted by a bystander early Thursday morning in Catoosa.
According to firefighters on scene, a bystander heard the smoke detectors going off in the house around 2:30 a.m. and alerted the three people inside.
A father, grandmother and teenager were inside the home on 193rd E. Ave. but got out uninjured.
The smoke detectors were on the other side of the house and the family inside did not hear them.
The fire started in the garage and spread to the living room but the cause is still under investigation. Firefighters said the bystander probably saved the three people's lives.
