TULSA -- KJRH 2 Works for You and Route 66 Chevrolet and Nissan of Tulsa partnered with Joy In The Cause to collect donations of board games and activity books (coloring books, word searches, etc.) for children undergoing cancer treatment.
During the collection, 2 Works for you collected 350 items and raised $4,000 to help cancer patients.
“Care for Kids with Cancer is not just a slogan, it is our mission to make a different in our community,” said Amy Calvert, vice president and general manager of 2 Works for You. “Children fighting cancer are heroes. We want to help make their journey a little less scary and partnering with Joy In The Cause is a natural fit.”
Joy In The Cause creates and delivers care packages daily to children in the hospital, in hospice, heading to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and even at home. Care packages are provided to the entire family of the children undergoing treatment. Each care package contains a board game or activity book.
“Joy In The Cause is thrilled to team up with 2 Works for You and Route 66 Chevrolet and Nissan of Tulsa to help children who are batting cancer,” said Lisa Bain, director and founder of Joy In The Cause. “The number one request for care package items are board games and activities that can be done while in the hospital. We are grateful that this drive can help us keep up the needs and requests of these children and their families. Thank you 2 Works for You and Route 66 Chevrolet and Nissan of Tulsa.”
Visitors were encouraged to place their donations in the truck bed of their preferred brand, Chevrolet or Nissan, to spark some friendly competition. The 2 Cares for the Community Care for Kids with Cancer drive will accept donations from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 6 at Route 66 Chevrolet and Nissan of Tulsa.
