BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Broken Arrow Public Schools released new numbers on the cases of COVID-19 in the district on Thursday.

After one week of school the district reported 21 students and one staff member tested positive. Three of the students recovered.

District officials said they continue to be vigilant for the safety and the health of students, staff and teachers by following the guidelines set by the Board of Education.

We anticipated there would be cases coming into the district before school even began. The majority of these cases were recorded before students or staff entered the buildings. By staying on top of the situation, almost all of these cases were quarantined and dealt with before a student or teacher even came in contact with others.
Derek Blackburn, Executive Director of Student Services

The district is asking if a parent or sibling tests positive for COVID-19, that all children stay home until they get test results.
