BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- Friends of a Broken Arrow couple were caught off guard to hear of a suspected domestic dispute and its tragic ending on Thursday.
Police are investigating after responding to reports of gunshots, and finding a man and woman in their 60s dead inside a home.
One neighbor did not want to give his name, but said the two were quiet and cordial, and seemed happy during their last interaction.
"All I can say is he had some health issues where he had a surgery that went wrong, and he was a little slow. We even had them over to our house during Christmas week," he said.
The man recently saw one of the victims walking down the street with her newly adopted dog.
"She has a standard poodle that she just bought named Harley that she walks up and down the complex. My next door neighbor knew them and recommended they move in here," he said.
Others down the street said the home seemed peaceful, and they didn't suspect any conflict.
"I've never heard fights or anything like that. It's very quiet in here normally. Never heard anything. So it's really shocking," Sue Hastings said.
Hastings said she was encouraged to see a strong police presence. Officers added additional technology Thursday, bringing out their donated drone for the first time.
"I felt like I was safe because they were all here. And I don't have a problem with drones and stuff. If it helps locate things then new technology is fine with me," Hastings said.
Neighbors at Forest Creek said the community does not see much crime outside of the occasional break in.
Broken Arrow police said the case looks to be a murder-suicide after a pistol was found near the bodies. The names of the two people who died have not been released.
