MUSKOGEE COUNTY – After initially deeming that there were no signs of foul play after discovering a body in the Canadian River, troopers say they now have reason to believe otherwise.

A person was reported missing around 3 p.m. in the Canadian River on Monday as a possible drowning, says the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office. Around 6 p.m. that day, troopers found the body of a man.

As of Tuesday, troopers say they are investigating the possibility that the incident is the result of a homicide.

Troopers say they are not sure how long the victim was in the water but the body has been turned over to the medical examiner’s office.
