TULSA, Okla. — Shoppers have a new option to buy local art in Tulsa this holiday season. The Blue Dome is hosting pop-up shops every weekend until Christmas.
Organizers of the 8-week-long event say this provides shoppers the opportunity to support their community while finding a gift that is one of a kind.
"When you buy a piece of art and you have a story behind it and a memory behind its so much more special than ordering something online," said Jo Armstrong, the Blue Dome Pop-Up Shops Coordinator. “Every time you look at it on your wall or in your home, you get a smile and you give it as a gift and you feel better knowing you gave something that had a lot more meaning.”
The pop-up shops will be on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Artwork for sale will rage from sculptures, paintings, keepsakes, jewelry and to anything in between.
Armstrong says this event is designed to give shoppers a chance to buy from local artists in place of the Blue Dome Festival.
“Instead of having 200 artists on the street under the blue dome, we’ll have artists inside the blue dome in smaller batches," said Armstrong. "It’s a way to make it a little more personal.”
There will be four different artists selling pieces at the pop-up shops. For a list of who will be selling artwork, click here.
