Black History Month: Honoring Leona Mitchell

Tonight, we are highlighting musician and Oklahoma native Leona Mitchell for Black History Month.

Mitchell is a Grammy Award winning soprano who sang for 18 seasons as a lead at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

She has been inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, Music Hall of Fame, Women's Hall of Fame and the Jazz Hall of Fame.

In her hometown of Enid, there is a street named after her called Leona Mitchell Boulevard and a museum named in her honor.
