Today, we're celebrating Dr. A.C. Jackson for Black History Month.
Jackson was named the "most able black surgeon in America" by the Mayo brothers of the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Jackson practiced in Tulsa and Claremore and then trained as a surgeon in Memphis.
In 1919, he returned to Tulsa as a specialist in chronic diseases and surgery for women.
Dr. Jackson lived in the Greenwood District. His neighbors were said to be Booker T. Washington High School principal E.W. Woods and Tulsa publisher A.J. Smitherman.
