BIXBY — Several homes are already underwater in Bixby and now the city is warning people in more than half a dozen new neighborhoods, including downtown, to be prepared to evacuate.
Bixby is nowhere near out of the woods just yet.
It's important right now for people to continue to watch flooding conditions and pay attention to the amount of rain the city receives today.
Officials say if the total rainfall equals or exceeds just two inches, then multiple neighborhoods all across the city could be at risk.
This includes homes, businesses, and roadways.
City officials say just from Sunday to Monday, water levels increased six inches.
The additional rain will affect areas south of the river, including Pecan Park Mobile Home Park, Woodland Acres, and downtown Bixby from Memorial Drive to Riverview, and south of Needles to Bixby Creek.
The rainfall could also impact north of the river at Riverbend Mobile Home Park and Abbie Rae Lynn.
Again, this is not the time to be scared or nervous, but to be aware of what's happening in your neighborhood.
