OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma City High School girls basketball team is speaking out after an announcer called their names "disgusting," according to KOCO in Oklahoma City.

That moment caught on camera during a District Championship game on Friday night.

The girls united to block it out and finished the game.

The school later released statement saying in part: "This unfortunate comment does not represent the Newkirk Public Schools or it's beliefs, we sincerely apologize for any pain or affront our announcers comment has caused."

"A lot of people are calling it a mistake because he was an older man, so we'd like to say that if it was a mistake, you could have stopped at that very moment when you said it, or the school could've stopped him at that very moment and apologized."

The team said the announcer did ask for pronunciations before the game, and went through their names correctly, before later calling their names disgusting.
