BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Bartlesville police say the district attorney will determine whether charges will be filed in connection with a deadly shooting Saturday.

At about 11:50 p.m. on Dec. 15, Bartlesville police responded to a residence in the 1700 block of County Road. It was reported as an accidental shooting, and when officers arrived, they found Demonte Barbee, 18, from Nowata, lying on the floor. He had a gunshot wound to the waist.

Barbee was taken to the hospital where he later died.

On Dec. 17, detectives interviewed Dylan Cobb, 19, a second time in connection with the incident. Detectives said Cobb changed his statement, and said that he grabbed the gun, when it accidentally went off and struck Barbee.

The case will be reviewed by the district attorney.
