BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The lights are on at Bartlesville’s Fantasy Land of Lights, a drive-through light display in Johnstone Park.

Put on by Bartlesville Daybreak Rotary, thousands come every year to see it. But this year, it’s a little bit more special.

A new display was unveiled Tuesday honoring Randy Weatherly, a long time volunteer who unexpectedly passed away last year.

“Randy with Fantasy Land was highly invested in this," said Pam Crawford, president of Bartlesville Daybreak Rotary. "He was willing to come out even when it wasn’t his time to make sure the volunteers were getting things done that they needed to do.”

Fantasy Land is in its 28th year. Weatherly was a part of it for 27 of those years. They say his loss is being felt this year.

“Randy was the pulse, the heartbeat, the soul of Fantasy Land," said Bill Riley, chairman of Fantasy Land. "He had everything here.”

Weatherly was also involved in giving back. Donations collected at Fantasy Land go toward scholarships for area high school students. Now that Weatherly is gone, they plan to continue his work.

“It’s very big for the community," Riley said. "And it is very heavily supported by the community. And we wish to continue that so that we can live up to the goals he set us.”

Fantasy Land is open until Dec. 30.
