Schools across green country are taking extra steps to protect our youth.

On Wednesday, two Bartlesville elementary schools are making it a priority to tackle and prevent childhood obesity through new fitness equipment.

"It's kind of like American Ninja Warrior. We want to make sure that our kids are getting strong since that becoming huge across our country," said Brittany Whaling, the physical education teacher at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School.

She was a major force behind the new equipment with Project Fit America, a non-profit organization that provides educational programs and tools for teachers to get kids fit.

"For me it's very important that my kids have every opportunity that I can give them," said Whaling.

There are about 600 students at Woodrow Wilson who will benefit from the new equipment.
