BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – A man was taken into custody this week after, police say, he attempted to strangle his wife.

According to Broken Arrow police, Jack Campbell, 41, was arrested on complaint of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault and battery by strangulation.

Campbell is accused of attempting to strangle his wife who was attempting to leave the house and give her brother a ride home. Police say that Campbell threatened to shoot or stab her and scratched her arm with a knife.

When police arrived, the person who reported incident said Campbell had sent them “messages which were ‘disturbing.’” BAPD says the messages were in reference to Campbell shooting himself, burning his house down and shooting his wife “because she would not come home.”

BAPD says the victim had “red marks on her neck from being strangled” and “a small cut on her upper right arm.”
