BROKEN ARROW -- The man involved in a stand off in Broken Arrow said he was unconscious the entire time.

Joey Brashears is currently in the Tulsa County Jail charged with kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault and battery, interfering with an emergency call and resisting arrest.

The Special Operations Team in Broken Arrow attempted to arrest Brashears Thursday after a woman he was in a relationship with said he beat her every time she tried to leave the home.

An hours long standoff ensued.

BAPD called out on a loud speaker for Brashears to come outside. They ignited flash bangs and gassed his home several times.

"I was outside under a tarp in the driveway in front of the garage," Brashears said. "If they would have looked outside before they started blowing up my house they would have found that I was unconscious."

Brashears said he and the woman he was in a relationship with got into a fight that morning.

"No one don't have a perfect relationship," Brashears said. "We had an argument that turned off into a slap fight."

He said when she ran outside to police, he ran out of the back door. Brashears said he ran into something when he was going outside that knocked him out.

Brashears said he did not hear any of what went on. He did not even know that his home caught fire.

He said his lack of injuries prove he was not in the home for the more than five hours the Special Operations Team was there.

"There was no smoke damage on me," Brashears said. "There was nothing burnt on me. I had no smoke in my lungs. I had no tear gas in my lungs."

BAPD did confirm Brashears was found right inside his garage unconscious. They said he was given CPR and he woke up.

During the standoff, police said they saw him in a room with flames.

As far as the woman, Brashears said the injuries she has came from her job as a dog groomer.

"She got a lot of hair in her eyes the week before which made her eyes black from rubbing them," Brashears explained. "She blow dries the dogs and she rubs her eyes a lot which they were black from before."

He said he has not had any contact with the woman since.

Brashears said he plans to bond out of jail Monday or Tuesday and live in an RV behind his home.
