BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- Speed-limit reductions will take place in three areas of southern Broken Arrow, according to a news release.

A city spokesperson says each of the three roads have been reduced to a 40 miles per hour limit, down from the previous 50 miles per hour limit.

Effective immediately, the speed limit reductions affect:
•    Jasper (131st) Street between Olive (129th) Avenue and Aspen (145th) Avenue,
•    Tucson (121st) Street between Olive Avenue and Garnett Road, and
•    Aspen Avenue between Jasper and Tucson Streets.

"These streets kept the Tulsa County speed limit of 50 miles per hour when they were originally annexed into the city," the spokesperson said. "However, the city council and city staff have heard from residents who feel that speed limit will be too fast with residential and commercial development currently underway and planned for the near future."

Some speed limit signs already have been replaced and all new signs will be posted by the end of the week, the city says.
