PRYOR, Okla. -  Pryor Police have identified the man who was killed by a train Sunday morning in the 200 block of Highway 69 - 53-year-old Doug Edward Jones.

Police say the pedestrian who was hit by a train Sunday morning here has died and authorities are investigating the death as a suicide. Police said they learned that Jones had crawled up on the tracks just before the train hit him.

At about 10:30 a.m., Pryor Police say within the city limits, a man was hit by a train in the 200 block near N. Taylor and was critically injured. He was pronounced dead at 11:50 a.m. after being taken to Hillcrest-Pryor Hospital. Officials say his condition was too severe to try to medi-flight him to a Tulsa hospital.

Authorities say that upon arrival to the scene, Jones made suicidal statements as he was being treated.

All railroad crossings in town were closed except one for a lengthy period of time after the tragedy.

Patrick Bias, who was witness to the aftermath of the accident, told 2 Works for You that the man was severely injured and was taken to the Pryor hospital where he expired. Bias said he is an EMS worker but was not working the scene. He lives very near where the man was struck. Bias' house is in the 300 block of N. Taylor.
