STILLWATER--Approximately 40 Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity members in Stillwater are displaced after a house fire early Thursday morning.

It happened about 3:50 a.m. at 1203 W. 3rd Ave. Stillwater Fire Department responded to an automatic fire alarm at Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.

Dispatch advised that there was smoke coming from a room on the third floor and students were evacuating.

Fire crews say that the fire had been in a closet and was extinguished by the sprinkler system.
The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.

Officials say the house suffered significant water damage to the west wing.

Arrangements were made with Oklahoma State University and the Red Cross to provide assistance to the 40 displaced students.
