DELAWARE COUNTY, Okla. – A former Delaware County detention officer accused of second degree rape has been arrested.
Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Christina Balcom who is accused of abusing her power to have sexual relations with an inmate.
Balcom was fired after it was discovered she had sex with a male inmate. She claimed that she was walking with the inmate on August 13 when they started kissing and eventually had intercourse.
Then on August 19, the inmate who initially declined making a statement, came forward and told authorities that he felt that he’d been sexually assaulted by Balcom and was “pressured.”
Eventually, authorities determined that an arrest warrant for second degree rape should be filed for Balcom because she had sex with an inmate who is “under her control and supervision.”
