Red flag laws are a hot topic. They make it legal for officials to take away firearms from a person who may present a danger to others or themselves.
It could be used in cases of domestic violence and mental illness.
Right now the law does not exist in Oklahoma but Senate Bill 1081 wants to keep it that way, and it's heading to the senate floor.
Those against the bill say red flag laws are important.
Cacky Poarch with Moms Demand Action says, "It is a safety measure, so when there is domestic abuse, or drug addiction, or mental illness this is a safety measure to remove fire arms, which is a good policy for Oklahoma."
This bill matches the push by some sheriffs to establish sanctuary counties in the state, they say to protect Second Amendment rights.
