Disturbing details released in the child rape case involving a former Tulsa County Sheriff's Deputy. The probable cause affidavit reveals some terrible allegations, but we're told by the Tulsa Police Department that this isn't the only case.
Deputies in Wagoner County arrested 34-year-old Josh Wood yesterday for an alleged assault in June. But Tulsa police now say within a month, he may have molested yet another child.
Behind a house in the 7700 block of South Kingston Avenue, there's a pool. On a hot day in June, an 11-year-old went swimming with her friends, carefree and innocent. Wagoner County authorities say Josh Wood told the little girl he would take her to get dry clothes. But deputies say Wood had a disturbing motive.
"He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Wagoner County jail for the sexual assault charge," Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliot said.
Investigators say while Wood was driving, he asked the young girl if she knew about sex. When she said no, Wagoner County investigators say he forced himself on the girl.
"When you're talking about an 11-year-old, a juvenile that's been sexually assaulted, it's a very serious matter and we take it very serious," Sheriff Elliot said.
The Tulsa Police Department Child Crisis Unit says it received a similar case involving Wood and a five-year-old July 17th.
"My case is still very much ongoing," TPD Child Crisis Detective Aubrie Thompson said. "It's an open case and we are still in the face and evidence based collection of this case."
While TPD is still investigating, Wagoner County does have enough evidence to recommend criminal charges. Wood faces a count of first degree rape by instrumentation.
