Annual Bluegrass & Chili festival moves to downtown Wagoner

Posted

WAGONER, Okla. -- The 39th annual Bluegrass & Chili Festival will be held in downtown Wagoner in September, festival organizers said.

The festival is moving, after it had been held in Claremore. It will be held Sept. 7-8.

“Since announcing that the Festival was postponed we have been approached by various entities and cities to potentially host this event.  We so appreciate all their interest, it is a great testament to the Festival, sponsors and volunteers. We anticipate a great Festival partnership with Wagoner” reports Davis.  Per Mayor Jones “The Festival is a perfect fit for our five year strategic plan. We realize the importance of tourism dollars and we want to capitalize on the direct economic impact, positive press value, and the quality of life benefits it can bring to our community.  We are working with the Festival Committee, Wagoner Main Street, Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Gibson Lake Association to present the event for this year. Our City Council members all agreed it was important to not wait a year to introduce the Festival. This way we can present the 39th event and begin planning how we will celebrate the 40th Anniversary.  So in just a short six weeks we will be ready to welcome Festival visitors to our community.”   Davis concurs that the organizations, volunteers and committee will be working tirelessly to continue to present the traditions that have made this event a regional favorite.  “The excitement that we see in Wagoner is going to insure that the event is successful” reports Davis.
