TULSA, Okla. — The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is working on a $20 million project that will widen a busy section of Interstate 44.

Starting on August 5, crews will begin construction of the widening project on I-44. The interstate will go from four to eight lanes going east and westbound between 165th East Ave and 193rd East Ave at the Hard Rock Hotel exit.

They expect to be traffic delays on the work zones, so they advise drivers to slow down and plan ahead if taking I-44.

To receive alerts of specific lane and ramp closures, you can sign up for a traffic advisory on ODOT's website.

The overall project is scheduled to be completed by Summer 2020.
