American Airlines warns of potential layoffs amid pandemic

TULSA, Okla. — American Airlines is notifying 25,000 employees across the country of future potential layoffs.

So far, the impact to Tulsa is unknown.

Dale Danker is the president of the Transport Workers Union 514 that represents American maintenance workers in Tulsa.

“It's just a heck of a risk to leave a company you've been at for a long time when you know the ones that are senior employees," Danker said. "American didn't appear to be going completely out of business, things might get a lot worse before they get better but if you're a senior employee. You know that you could just keep coming to work and have the active insurance, which is what you're used to. So, it's a tough question for people to have to go try to figure out."
