Prince Street walked his last MD-80 aircraft from the American Airlines Maintenance Base this week.
Street joined American Airlines in 1964.
He was seen as a trailblazer, becoming the company's first African American production supervisor.
Street, an Air Force veteran, spent 53 years with American Airlines before retiring.
He oversaw many overhauls of American's Boeing 727 and MD-80 fleet.
Street is also part of an elite club of aviation mechanics, where the FAA awards them with the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award.
