TULSA, Okla. — Amazon announces they are hiring more than 1,500 full-time positions for its Tulsa fulfillment center.
Hired employees will work alongside Amazon robotics to pick, pack and ship items, like books, toys and electronics, to customers, according to an official Amazon press release.
President and CEO of the Tulsa Regional Chamber Mike Neal made a statement on the announcement.
Amazon's investment in Tulsa is a testament to our region's strong workforce and burgeoning technology sector. We are especially grateful Amazon is bringing quality jobs to northeast Oklahoma during this critical time. As our region continues gaining recognition as a globally competitive and innovative place to do business, we look forward to building upon this momentum and fostering additional job growth in the future.
The Amazon hiring event runs Monday through Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Tulsa Technology Conference Center, located in Owasso.
There is a total of 12 half-hour events with an hour lunch break from noon to 1 p.m. Around 20 to 25 candidates are scheduled in each event.
Officials said their onboarding process includes several coronavirus accommodations, including virtual orientations and online training sessions. Employees are provided personal protective equipment like gloves, masks and hand sanitizer. During a candidates appointment, officials said they may be required to have their temperature checked.
In these unprecedented times, Amazon remains committed to the health and safety of our employees, partners, and the customers we serve. We know many people have been economically impacted as jobs in areas like hospitality, restaurants, and travel are lost or furloughed as part of this crisis, and we welcome anyone out of work to join us at Amazon until their past employer can bring them back.
Amazon offers a starting minimum wage of $15 per hour, full-time comprehensive benefits and 401(k) with a 50 percent match beginning on day one. Also, Amazon offers up to 20 weeks of maternal and parental paid leave and "innovative benefits such as Leave Share and Ramp Back, which give new parents flexibility with their growing families."
Officials ask potential candidates to not attend if any of the following applies to them:

- They have a temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher.
- They are in a 14-day period of self-isolation directed by a healthcare provider or health official.
