Man arrested after prompting short standoff

TULSA – An alleged employee prompted a standoff with police after causing a stir at the store where he worked.

According to Tulsa police, the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Payless Food Store located at MLK and Mohawk Blvd.

Police were informed that an employee, Deandre Carson, entered the store and started to threaten the store owner. They were told that the suspect fired a shot in the store.

The owner then fled the store and the suspect followed, as per police. When officers arrived the suspect was behind the store.

After blocking off the entire area, police were engaged in a 15 minute standoff with the suspect until he finally surrendered.

He was arrested for threatening violence and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.
