An effort to stop distracted driving, especially texting behind the wheel -- it's part of AAA Oklahoma’s new campaign to keep the roads safe.
It's a multi-year initiative they launched at Tulsa Community College’s West campus Wednesday morning. They're working with the community college to end a dangerous habit, which they say harms too many.
"We are losing nine lives a day in the United States and injuring a thousand people due to distracted driving. It's an epidemic that must stop," Mark Madeja, AAA public affairs spokesperson, said.
AAA Oklahoma is encouraging people to take a pledge to not drive while distracted.
