A shortage of clerical staff has forced the Wagoner County Health Department's office in Wagoner to shut down temporarily.

Health department officials say an employee retired and another had a personal emergency, and they don't have the means to bring in another county employee to help with the staffing for now.

A sign posted outside the Wagoner office's building says it'll reopen on August 1, but the regional director says it could take longer than that. It just depends on when the new hire will be ready for the role.

It has been nine business days that the building has been closed for clinical services such as immunizations. Only those with previous appointments were helped on July 16. The next day patients with scheduled appointments will be seen is July 30.

In the meantime, other services are being offered like family planning and WIC.

People interested in clinical services are being referred to the closest county health department's office in Coweta, about a 17-mile drive from Wagoner. The office is located at 28596 E 141st St S.
