BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - A New Leaf nonprofit, which provides employment opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities, is hoping to benefit from your generosity this holiday season.
Its clients are prepping poinsettias for delivery. They have sold 3,000 pots so far, but have about 2,000 more to go.
This year is especially crucial for the organization, which could face cuts in the future.
"The state funding is not secure. We got it for a little bit longer but we're not sure", said Kevin Harper, the nonprofit's Director of Marketing.
On Giving Tuesday, the nonprofit was hoping to raise more than $5,000.
Ultimately, Harper said your donation is helping more than 100 clients lead more independent lives and integrate into the community.
"They love the fact that when they get to come to work and they see the greenhouses full, they know they have plenty to do," said Harper, "They know they get to go out to the community, and they love walking into an organization and delivering those poinsettias."
