As of 5:30 p.m., EMSA has responded to five suspected heat-related calls in the Tulsa area.
A Medical Heat Alert is issued when medics respond to five or more suspected heat-related illness calls in a 24-hour period.
Over the past three days, medics in Tulsa have responded to 35 suspected heat-related illness calls.
So far this year EMSA has responded to 240 heat-related illness calls in the Tulsa area. In 2017 medics responded to a total of 237 suspected heat-related illness calls in and around Tulsa.
EMSA is urging citizens to make a plan to stay safe. Plan the amount of time you think you will be outdoors and take appropriate amounts of water or other fluids with you.
