As of 5:30 p.m., EMSA has responded to five suspected heat-related calls in the Tulsa area.

A Medical Heat Alert is issued when medics respond to five or more suspected heat-related illness calls in a 24-hour period.

Over the past three days, medics in Tulsa have responded to 35 suspected heat-related illness calls.

So far this year EMSA has responded to 240 heat-related illness calls in the Tulsa area. In 2017 medics responded to a total of 237 suspected heat-related illness calls in and around Tulsa.

EMSA is urging citizens to make a plan to stay safe. Plan the amount of time you think you will be outdoors and take appropriate amounts of water or other fluids with you.

Plan your schedule to allow for frequent breaks indoors, if possible.
