TULSA, Okla. — Heat outside and inside for the residents of Old South Apartments. They say they cannot escape the rising temperatures, even when indoors.
Tenants hang out in the breezeways or the courtyard of the complex, waiting for their AC troubles to be erased.
Inside, thermostats reading above 80 degrees; 82 inside Kelly Yerian’s place.
“The management is not even here not even a quarter of the time during the week,” Yerian said.
Another tenant, Jana Taylor keeps her children entertained and cool by keeping them outside with water toys.
“There’s too many people that have kids. It’s not right. I pay my rent on time. I've never been late,” Taylor said.
Taylor plans on moving her children to a hotel room until it is safe for them to come back home.
2 Works for You asked property management about the situation and was told the manager has no comment other than they started working on the issue Friday.
The Tulsa Health Department is aware of the complaints from Old South Apartments and will inspect this week.
