OOLOHAG, Okla. - A bystander is credited with saving the life of a young girl over the weekend after Oklahoma Highway Patrol says she almost drown.
OHP says the 7-year-old was swimming at the Hawthorn swim beach with her sister when she went under the water and didn't resurface.
The girls sister yelled for help when family members and bystanders ran into the water to help.
One of the bystanders located the girl, brought her ashore and performed CPR. After fire and EMS arrived on scene the victim was resuscitated.
The 7-year-old was taken to the hospital and according to a report from OHP is expected to be released from the hospital.
