Dozens of new troopers are heading to Oklahoma's highways.

After 20 weeks of training, 61 cadets graduated from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy on Thursday.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, OHP officials said part of the academy was conducted remotely.

Despite the challenges presented during this Academy and having to conduct a portion remotely, these cadets are graduating fully prepared to serve and protect our citizens on the roadways. We are extremely proud of them and the staff of this Academy for the way they've conducted themselves during uncertain times.
OHP Chief, Colonel Brent Sugg

The agency live-streamed the graduation and cadets could bring one guest to pin their badge. They limited staffing and everyone had to wear a mask.

The next steps in training are to ride with another trooper for 13-weeks before they start working the interstates and turnpikes on their own.
