This weekend two children have died in two separate drowning incidents.
Saturday afternoon, a 9-year-old boy fell off a dock and drowned at Lake Eufala.
Around 8:24 a.m. Sunday morning, Tulsa Police were dispatched to the area of 78th and South Wheeling for reports of a drowning.
According to the report, a neighbor walked out of his apartment and saw a child face down in the pool.
The neighbor called 911 and pulled the child from the pool, a 3-year-old was also in the pool area.
Officers performed CPR on the child until Tulsa Fire and EMSA arrived.
The child was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead a short time after arriving.
According to officials, it appears that the two children snuck out of the nearby apartment while the parents were sleeping and went into the pool.
The Tulsa Fire Department says it's important to teach kids to never swim alone, and always ask for permission before they get in the water.
Andy Little, Tulsa Fire Department Public Information Officer, tells us, "We’re into summer now. It’s hot outside. The kids are wanting to cool off. They’re wanting to swim and they’re drawn to water. So as a parent, as a community member, it’s very important that you’re observant, especially if you’re in an apartment complex because there’s lots of little children around.”
