SAPULPA, Okla.- Sapulpa police have confirmed that a three-year-old boy died Sunday afternoon after being found unresponsive.

Police say the boy had been missing for two hours before parents contacted police.

When police responded to the call near Boyd and Grayson Streets, they had about a 20-people search looking for the toddler in a wooded area.

Lieutenant Fred Clark with Sapulpsa Police Department said the boy's mother found him next to a pond near their home.

According to Lt. Clark, police performed CPR on the boy, but it was too late.

The boy was transported to St., Francis hospital in Tulsa, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the boy's father thought he was taking a nap inside the house and then realized he was missing. His mother was not home at the time.

Now, police are waiting for the medical examiner's report on the boy's cause of death. This could take a few weeks.
