"Dear Parents/Guardians:

I want to inform you of an incident that occurred today at Hale Junior High. A reliable source informed campus police officers that there was a weapon on campus. Campus police acted on the lead and recovered a small handgun in the pocket of a student’s jacket. TPS Campus Police is the lead investigating agency and three students are in custody in connection with this incident.

As you know, student safety is our priority, and we take this matter very seriously. I am grateful to our campus police officers who took preemptive action quickly to ensure that our students and teachers remained safe. Please know that decisions around safety at the site and district levels are always made with the best interest of our children in mind.

To aid in communication, I strongly encourage parents, guardians and family members to download the district’s new SchoolWay phone app. The app can be downloaded at tulsaschools.org/app or by visiting the Apple or Android app stores.
