TULSA - 2 cares for the community and we’re asking for your help as we collect food for the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma in our sixth annual Peanut Butter Drive in front of our station in Brookeside on Peoria.

We’ve made it easy for everyone to donate on Wednesday.

You simply pull up in front of our station and someone from 2 Works For You will grab the food from your car which will later be distributed to 24 counties in Oklahoma.

During and after the summer is when the food bank shelves are at their lowest.

With school underway, the food bank is also looking to restock school pantries with food and especially peanut butter and jelly.

Communications Manager Greg Raskin said many Oklahomans are forced to decide whether to pay their utilities or to buy food.

“The employment rate is getting better, but there’s a lot of jobs in Oklahoma with low wage jobs," Raskin said. "So you have families who are working one or two, or multiple jobs and still not make ends meet.”

He said that translates into one in six Oklahomans going through food insecurity and one in four children.

Several of the 2 works for team members will be out in front of the station from 10 until 6:30 Wednesday evening.
