The teen accused in the death of his young cousin last year has pleaded guilty for child abuse murder.
The 14-year-old pleaded guilty in the death of his cousin in 2015 as a juvenile defender and was sentenced to 25 years in custody and 20 years suspended.
The young cousin, Charity Simmons, was just 2-years-old when her mother, Christina Simmons, left her alone with the teen relative. Christina Simmons was later arrested on child neglect charges.
Later in the year, the medical examiner’s report indicated that Charitywas strangled and beaten to death. The report showed a total of 50 blunt force injuries were discovered on the toddler’s body. Not long after the report was made public, the teen who was watching Charity Simmons was arrested.
