101-year-old fiddler Violet Hensley stopped by 2 Works for You Midday ahead of her induction into the National Fiddler Hall of Fame.

An evening with some of the world’s best bluegrass fiddlers will be the backdrop for this year’s National Fiddler Hall of Fame 2018 induction concert and gala.  Headlining the event is 15-time Grammy-award winner Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder in full concert. Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper will bring their dynamic talent to the stage as well as other special guests for a night of music you won’t want to miss! In addition to Skaggs who will be receiving the Special Recognition award, this year’s prestigious lineup of NFHoF inductees include, bluegrass sensation Michael Cleveland, who is himself up for a Grammy; Violet Hensley, who still wows crowds at Silver Dollar City at age 101; Bobby Hicks, longtime Ricky Skaggs band member, acclaimed recording artist; Jeff Cook, whose recognizable fiddle licks made Alabama a national sensation; and Benny Martin, Nashville recording artist and composer, who won a lawsuit for his composition being the foundation of the hit “Nine to Five.” 

 

 “This year we are celebrating our 10th year of inducting some of the most accomplished fiddle players in the history of fiddle playing. From bluegrass to classical, jazz to western swing, the National Fiddler Hall of Fame celebrates those fiddle players who have made a substantial impact on the art of fiddle in all genres,” said NFHoF President, Bob Fjeldsted.

 

It will be a star-studded evening as people gather from around the country to honor the inductees and enjoy a great concert. VIP ticket holders will be treated to table seating up close and personal with light hors d’oeuvres, drinks, a Meet and Greet with the artists, and a pre-show featuring the high energy bluegrass band, The Baker Family.
