SAND SPRINGS, Okla. – A man was reported dead Friday following a wreck that required him to be extracted using the jaws of life.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol was called to Avery Drive, near Highway 97, around 4 a.m. to investigate after an SUV was located in a ravine.
Reports indicate the vehicle ran off the road on Avery Drive and fell about 25 feet down into a ravine and hit a large rock.
The driver, Halston Gaines, 30, was trapped in the car and brought up the hill to be taken to a nearby hospital. Troopers worked to stabilize the driver until an ambulance could arrive.
