EUFAULA, Okla. (AP) -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a 64-year-old man has died after a personal watercraft accident on an eastern Oklahoma lake.

Troopers say William Trotter of Poteau was killed about 7:40 p.m. Sunday while operating a jet ski on Lake Eufaula, about 110 miles east of Oklahoma City.

The patrol says Trotter was traveling north along the shoreline when his jet ski struck a tree and ejected him from the watercraft. He was floating face down when he was brought to the shore by witnesses.

Troopers say Trotter died at the scene from head injuries.

Authorities say five others, including two 4-year-old children, drowned in Oklahoma lakes during the Fourth of July holiday week.
